Issue Position

First-Responders are our communities' first line of defense. Police stand between us and those who seek to do harm. Fire Fighters run into burning structures to save us and sometimes even our pets. Emergency Medical personnel respond when we call, tend to our wounds, treat us when we are ill and sometimes save us from ourselves. They respond when called without question no matter the time and no matter the danger. I will always support these brave, caring members of our communities with legislation that will help them do their job. I will work to ensure that the families of those who make the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting us do not stand alone. I will work on legislation that ensures that line-of-duty death benefits apply to both paid and volunteer first-responders, whether they are on duty or respond on their day off.
